Pupil Church Team
Purpose
The Church Team are responsible for promoting and contributing to a positive school ethos by being caring and helpful leaders within the school community. They are responsible for sharing and demonstrating our school values, helping to deliver Collective Worship sessions and championing charitable causes through fundraising and advocacy. All pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 have the opportunity to be a part of the Church Team. A class vote is taken to decide on the representative for each class.
Their roles and responsibilities include:
- Promoting our Church School values (Acceptance, Forgiveness, Respect, Fairness, Perseverance, Positivity) by leading half-termly assemblies to explain their meaning and application and by modelling these values throughout their time in school.
- Helping to set up for and lead Collective Worship.
- Creating meaningful links with St Andrews’ Church through regular visits and working closely with the vicar to find different ways we can support them.
- Monitoring class prayer tables and displays, ensuring that they are kept clean, tidy and accessible to use by pupils.
- Acting as role models throughout the school by demonstrating friendship and kindness.
- Attending regular meetings to plan assemblies and other school events.
- Researching and selecting charitable causes to support throughout the year and then planning events to fundraise and raise awareness of their work.
- Ensuring that pupil voice is heard by listening to classmates’ ideas for Collective Worship and fundraising and sharing this during meetings.
Projects and initiatives led by the Church Team:
Values Certificates
In their mission to promote our school values, the Church Team created some fantastic values certificates to be given out at the end of each half-term. The Church Team have then led assemblies and presented children who have demonstrated our half-termly value with their certificates. Take a look at some brilliant examples below:
Christmas Care Home Visit
Alongside the Wellbeing Ambassadors, the Church Team took part in visiting a local care home in Netherton. The Church Team spread Christmas cheer by delivering Christmas cards they had made, presents donated by staff at the school, singing Christmas songs and spending time chatting to the residents. The staff at the care home commented on the exemplary way that the children represented our school and are keen for the children to visit again soon!
Red Nose Day
The Church Team organised a non-school uniform day as well as a cake sale to raise money for Red Nose Day. They gave up their break time to sell cakes to children and staff and raised an incredible £500.34. The money raised will help people who need it most across the UK and around the world. As little as £5 could help to feed a child for a day at a community hub during school holidays.
